“B T Lalitha Naik is an Indian social activist, politician, writer, who was the minister of Kannada, Culture, and Department of Women & Child Welfare of Karnataka.Naik has also served as an MLC and MLA.She won the Karnataka Sahitya Academy Award in 1991. She is also known for leading important literary, social and language-rights movements such as Bandaya movement and Gokak agitation.

She has been honored with numerous awards, including the Best Legislator Award for Literary Service, the Karnataka Sahitya Academy Award, the Rajiv Gandhi Ekta Award, the Smt. Savitramma D.J. Gowda Women’s Award, the Naadachetana Award, the Mahila Ratna Award, the Kirana Prabha Award, the Samaja Sevaratna Award, the Channabasava Pattaddevara Award (from the Kannada Abhivruddhi Balaga), the H.D. Deve Gowda Award (presented during the 89th Kannada Rajyotsava under the patronage of the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda Sports and Cultural Forum), the Daana Chintamani Award, and an Honorary Doctorate from Kuvempu University.”
