
K S Pavithra
K S Pavithra has made a name for herself in the fields of medicine, literature, and Bharatanatyam. At the age of 11, she earned the distinction of serving as the Vice President of the All India Children’s Kannada Literary Conference. Her notable works include Mana-Manana, Neenu Mattu Nimma Sambandhagalu, C.G. Jung, O Sakhi Neenu Sakhiyé, Paripoorna Vyaktitva, Indina Mahileyya Manasika Savalugalu, Geelu Khayile, and Magu-Manasu.
She has received several accolades such as the Kannada Sahitya Parishat’s Datti Award, the KASAPA Dharanendraya Psychology Datti Award, the S.S. Jayaram Award for Magu-Manasu, the Aralu Award from KASAPA, a grant award from the Kannada and Culture Department, the Best Young Writer Award from Gulbarga, and the H. Sharadamma Datti Trust Award from KASAPA for Mana-Manana, along with another Aralu Award. For her work in children’s mental health literature, she was awarded the UNICEF Media Fellowship.
As a Bharatanatyam performer and choreographer, she has presented dance productions on both national and international platforms. She is a practitioner of the Pandanallur style of Bharatanatyam. She earned her M.A. in Kannada from Karnataka State Open University. She founded Shrivijaya Kala Niketana, through which she conducts research and training workshops focused on art and mental health.
Her science literature work Diseases Related to Anxiety and Fear received the Karnataka Sahitya Academy Award for Best Work in 2019.
