
Flt Lt Poornima Malagimani
Poornima Malagimani is an author, engineer, and former Indian Air Force officer whose writings weave together the nuances of human relationships, imagination, and lived experience. Originally from Hanumanthapura in Shivamogga, she began her literary journey as a blogger and journalist, penning essays, poems, scientific articles, and anecdotes that reflect both emotional depth and intellectual curiosity.
An electronics engineer by training, she served in the Indian Air Force as a nautical engineer and now works as a Joint Deputy Director in a central government institution — seamlessly balancing her professional life with her passion for literature.
Poornima is the author of the English short story collection Anyone but the Spouse (2017), which established her as a bold new voice. She has also written acclaimed Kannada works, including the novel Ijaya, awarded a grant by the Kannada Sahitya Academy, and other notable titles such as Preeti Prema: Pustakadacheya Badanekayi, Aagamya, Doodle Kathegalu, Love Today, and Magic Soutu.
Her stories have received recognition in prestigious competitions — her Winner Winner Chicken Dinner won the first prize in the Book Brahma Svatantryotsava Story Competition, and her works have featured in the top selections of the Chanda Story Collection competition.
