Shivasharana Aruni

S. K. Aruni hails from Shahapur in Yadgir district. He has served for 20 years at the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR), a central government institution, and is currently working as the Deputy Director at the Southern Regional Centre in Bengaluru.

Deeply inclined toward history and research, he has authored several significant works related to the history, archaeology, architecture, and sculpture of Karnataka. His writings reflect rigorous study and highlight the cultural uniqueness of the region.

Among his major research works are Dakkhani Chitrakale (Dakkhani Painting, 2001), Yelahanka Nadaprabhu’s Architecture and Sculpture (2007), and Surapura Samsthana – Historical and Archaeological Study of a Poligar State in South India (2004).

He has also edited several important volumes, including Gems of Scholarships – Archaeology & Antiquities: Selected Articles from the QJMS 1909–2009 (2009), Archaeological Studies in Karnataka (2010), and Namma Bengaluru (2012).

In addition to academic publications, he has contributed columns and articles to leading newspapers such as The Hindu and Samyukta Karnataka. Through his scholarly and research efforts, S. K. Aruni continues to make historical and archaeological knowledge more accessible to the public.
