Krithika and Deepika Sreenivasan are sisters who embody the confluence of tradition, innovation, and scholarship in the arts. Krithika, a musician, researcher, and arts manager, leads the acclaimed project Kannada Kavya Kamanabillu, which reimagines Kannada poetry—from the Classical to the Modern era—through Indian classical and world music. A Junior Fellowship awardee and co-author of Alpaayushi Mahan Sadhakaru Sangeetagararu (“Great Musicians Who Died Young”), she weaves together performance, research, and management to make the arts meaningful and accessible.
Deepika, an accomplished Mridangam artiste and one of India’s leading young percussionists, is known for her powerful and nuanced performances on national and international stages, including the Madras Music Academy, NCPA Mumbai, G20 Summit in Delhi, and concerts in the UK and Europe. A Vidwath degree holder and recipient of the Young Artiste Scholarship, she has earned accolades like “Mridanga Maantrike” and mentors young women in Mridangam and Konnakkol, carrying forward a rare tradition with creativity and confidence.
Together, they continue to inspire audiences and students alike, showcasing the depth and dynamism of Indian classical arts with a fresh and contemporary perspective.
