Suchitra Ramachandran

Suchitra Ramachandran (born December 16, 1987, in Chennai) is a bilingual writer, translator, and scientist based in Basel, Switzerland. With a background in engineering and a PhD in neuroscience from Carnegie Mellon University, she balances her scientific career with literary pursuits.

Her debut Tamil short story collection Oli (2020) received critical acclaim. She won the Asymptote Close Approximations Prize in 2017 and translated B. Jeyamohan’s novel Ezhaam Ulagam into English as The Abyss (2023), which was shortlisted for a major translation award.

Suchitra is also the co-founder of Mozhi, a platform promoting translation and literary dialogue across Indian languages. Her work builds bridges between regional and global literary landscapes.
