Mudnakudu Chinnaswamy

Dr. Moodnakoodu Chinnaswamy (b. September 22, 1954, Mudnakudu, Chamarajanagar, Karnataka) is a celebrated Indian Kannada writer, a leading voice in the Dalit-Bandaya literary movement. Holding M.Com., M.A. (Kannada), and D.Litt. degrees, he had a distinguished career in the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporations and also served at the Social Welfare Department and Mysore University as a Visiting Professor. He has authored over 50 works across poetry, short stories, plays, essays, and translations, including notable poetry collections like “Matte Male Baruva Munna” and the prose work “Bahutvada Bharata Mattu Bouddha Tatvikate.” His poems have been translated into multiple international languages, making him the first Kannada poet with a book-length collection published in Spanish. A recipient of numerous accolades, including the Karnataka Sahitya Academy Honorary Award (2009), Karnataka Rajyotsava Award (2014), and the Sahitya Akademi Award (2022), he was also recognized by “Outlook” magazine in 2021 as one of the ’50 Dalit Achievers Reshaping India.’
