The drama traces the remarkable journey of literary expression — from ancient inscriptions carved on stone and parchment manuscripts to printed books, digital texts, and contemporary blogs. It explores how, across centuries, the act of writing has remained a means of adding meaning, colour, and depth to life, while books have stood as silent witnesses to humanity’s relentless search for truth and understanding.
 
Set against the backdrop of rapid urbanisation and globalisation, “Hottigeya Hottu” raises an important question: what happens when books are left forgotten in unopened cupboards? Through evocative performances and compelling storytelling, the play calls upon audiences to rediscover the joy of reading, to brush away the dust of neglect, and to immerse themselves once again in the transformative world of literature. It is both a celebration of books and a heartfelt reminder of their timeless role in shaping minds, memories, and society.
