Nirmala Kondepudi is a noted Telugu poet, short story writer, satirist, and journalist. She has published six poetry collections, two short story anthologies, and numerous socio-political satirical writings celebrated for their sharp social insight and humor.

She was the first young woman poet to receive the prestigious Kumaran Asan Award from the Government of Kerala and was also honored by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 2000 for her literary excellence.

Beginning her journalism career in 1978 as a Sub-Editor at Andhra Jyothi, she served for over 15 years across print, electronic, and digital media. Her work has focused on women's issues, investigative journalism, and social development. Her writings are widely studied, with several works included in the M.A. Telugu curriculum.
