P. Sathyavathi is a pioneering Telugu feminist writer whose works have significantly shaped contemporary Telugu literature. Born in July 1940 in Kolakalur, Guntur district, she graduated in English Literature from Andhra Viswakala Parishad and served as an English lecturer at S.A.S. College, Vijayawada. Beginning her literary journey in 1970, Satyavati has authored several acclaimed short story collections, including Marrineeda, Satyavati Kathalu, Illalakagane…, Mantranagari, and Melakuva, as well as the essay collection Ragam Bhupalam. Her stories explore women's lives, gender inequality, and social justice with remarkable insight and literary excellence. She has received several prestigious honours, including the Chaso Sphoorthi Award, Kondepudi Srinivasa Rao Award, Rangavalli Vishishta Puraskar, and the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University Vishishta Puraskar. Her writings have appeared in leading Telugu literary magazines and continue to inspire generations of readers.
