Shilalolitha (Dr. P. Lakshmi) is a distinguished Telugu poet, feminist writer, literary critic, and researcher. She holds M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. degrees in Telugu, and her doctoral research on women's poetry in Telugu literature received the Best Research Award (2008). She is the recipient of several honours, including the Ramya Sahithi Award (2005), Hyderabad Bharathi Award (2006), and the Vasireddy Ranganayakamma Memorial Prize from Telugu University (2007). Her notable works include the poetry collections Panjaranni Nene Pakshini Nene, Enthena Duram, Gaaju Nandi, and Nenu Ikkadi Bhumini; the research volumes Kavayitrula Kavithvamlo Streela Manobhavaalu and Telugu Kavayitrula Kavitwam – Pariseelana; and the critical work Naari Saarinchi. Selected as a National Poet by All India Radio for her poem Logili Bayata, she has been a long-time columnist for the feminist magazine Bhoomika and serves on its editorial board. A committed social activist, Shilalolitha's poems have been translated into several Indian and international languages, and she continues to be a prominent voice in contemporary Telugu literature.
