P. Lalitha Kumari (Volga) is a renowned Telugu writer, celebrated for her significant contributions to contemporary Telugu literature. Her stories, novels, and poetry articulate strong feminist perspectives while maintaining literary excellence and presenting authentic, deeply human characters. In her poetry, metaphor serves not only as a stylistic device but also as a powerful means of expressing and celebrating complex ideas. Her notable novels include Sweccha, Sahaja, Manavi, Kanniti Keratala Vennela, and Gulabilu. She has also authored Rajakiya Kathalu and Prayogam, both acclaimed short story collections. In addition to her literary career, Volga has made a mark as a filmmaker. After a long career in teaching, she served as the Head of the Scripting Division at Usha Kiran Movies. She directed three feature films, all of which received critical acclaim and won several awards.
