Sudhakar Unudurti is a Hyderabad-based Telugu writer known for his historical fiction, including short stories and novels. Originally from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, he began his career as a marine engineer in the merchant navy before turning to creative writing after retirement. His works draw on maritime history, India's colonial past, and the Buddhist heritage of the Kalinga-Andhra coastal region. His notable publications include the short story collections Toorupu Gaalulu (2018) and Chalicheemala Kavaatu (2021); the award-winning novels Yaaraada Konda and Chedarina Paadamudralu, which received the American Telugu Association (ATA) Awards in 2020 and 2024; and the co-authored non-fiction book Tathaagatuni Adugujaadalu (2019), which explores historical Buddhist sites around Visakhapatnam. His stories have also been translated into English as East Wind (2023) and into Kannada as Moodana Maarutha (2025). His forthcoming books include Arakappu Allam Tea, a collection of short stories, and Uppugaali Kaburlu, a memoir of his experiences as a marine engineer at sea.
