Akkalur Ravi is a Tamil translator, writer, and retired Accounts Officer from BSNL. A postgraduate in Commerce and an MBA graduate, he has been actively engaged in translation since 2008 and has translated 26 books from English into Tamil. His notable translations include Dreams from My Father, Gandhi and Bhagat Singh, The RTI Story, The Tales of Silk Roads, and Brief History of Equality. He received the Nalli ‘Thisaiyettum’ Best Translation Award (2018) for his Tamil translation of Sunil Khilnani’s The Idea of India. His creative work Kanavu Nagaram Kanchipuram presents the historic city through multiple cultural and social perspectives. A native of Akkalur near Mayiladuthurai, he currently resides in Chennai.
