R. Chandrasekaran, b. 27 June 1961) is one of the most distinguished voices in contemporary Tamil literature. Writing under the pen name Em. Yuvan for poetry and Yuvan Chandrasekar for fiction and other works, he has authored an extensive body of work spanning poetry, novels, short stories, flash fiction, essays, and translations. His acclaimed novels include Kaanal Nadhi, Payanakkathai, Vethaalam Sonna Kathai, Enkona Manithan, Ethirkkarai, and Aaru Tharagaikal. His poetry has been translated into several Indian languages, while his novel Kaanal Nadhi was published in English as Illusory River. An accomplished translator, he has also translated major international literary works into Tamil. His literary achievements have been recognised with the Canada Ilakkiya Thottam Award (2011), SPARROW Literary Award (2019), Vishnupuram Literary Award (2023), Iyal Award (2024), and the Kannadasan Award (2026). He currently resides in Chennai and is working on a new novel
