Sonia Cherian (Lt. Colonel, Dr.) is a Malayalam writer and retired Indian Army officer, born to P.J. Cherian and M.K. Thresyamma in Perambra, Kannur district, and studied at Vekalam UP School, Santhom High School, and St. Teresa's, Ernakulam. She served as an army doctor and is best known for her memoir Indian Rainbow (2019), a work notable for being among the first military memoirs by a woman in Malayalam, blending the feel of an adventure story with lyrical prose, which has been widely praised and well-received by readers.
