Prakash Bare is an Indian theatre and film actor who works in Malayalam, English, and other South Indian language productions, and who also has a parallel career as a technologist and entrepreneur. Born and raised in Kasaragod district, Kerala (grew up in Chirakkal, Kannur district), he completed his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from NSS College of Engineering, Palakkad, followed by a master's degree in Microelectronics from IIT Kanpur, after which he spent about fifteen years in Silicon Valley, California, working as a technologist and entrepreneur in chip design, including co-founding GDA Technologies Inc. He made his acting debut with the 2010 Malayalam film "Sufi Paranja Katha" and has since appeared in more than 30 films, becoming known for socially relevant, critically acclaimed art-house cinema; he is particularly noted for playing the poet KP Madhavan Nair (based on Mahakavi P. Kunhiraman Nair) in "Ivan Megharoopan," as well as for his roles in "Oraalppokkam" and "Papilio Buddha." Beyond acting, he is a producer under the Silicon Media banner, co-founded the Blue Ocean Theater group, and is a social activist involved with the Endosulfan victims' struggle in Kasaragod as president of the CERV Collectives.
