N. Ramachandran is an eminent Tamil folklorist, literary scholar, researcher, and author with over three decades of distinguished contributions to folklore studies and Tamil literature. Holding a Ph.D. in Folklore, he served as Associate Professor and Head of the P.G. & Research Department of Folklore at St. Xavier's College, Palayamkottai, and later as Director of the Folklore Resources and Research Centre (2014–2024).   Widely respected for his pioneering research in folk literature, folk performance, folk religion, and ethnography, has authored and edited several influential books, guided numerous doctoral scholars, published over 30 research papers, and presented more than 90 papers at national and international conferences. He has also led major research projects and served as editor of leading academic journals, making a lasting contribution to the preservation and advancement of Tamil folklore and cultural studies.
