S. R. Sundaram (Kannan Sundaram) is a leading Tamil publisher, editor, writer, and cultural commentator. He is the Publisher of Kalachuvadu Publications and Editor of Kalachuvadu, the renowned Tamil monthly on culture and politics. A key figure in contemporary Tamil literature, he co-organised the landmark Tamil Ini 2000 international conference and has participated in several prestigious global publishing programmes. His essays have appeared in The Hindu, The Indian Express, Scroll.in, and Economic and Political Weekly. In 2024, the French Government conferred on him the prestigious Chevalier title in recognition of his outstanding contribution to literature and publishing.
