S. Kandasubramaniam was born on 15 December 1977 in Uthukuli, Tamil Nadu. He completed his B.Sc. in Physics at PSG College of Arts & Science, Coimbatore (1994–1997) and pursued his Master's degree and research in Tamil Studies at Madurai Kamaraj University (1997–2003).

Since June 2003, he has been serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Tamil at PSG College of Arts & Science, Coimbatore. His academic interests include Folklore, Translation Studies, and Social History.

He has also worked as a theatre performer with Dr. M. Ramaswamy's Nijanadaga Theatre Movement, participating in three productions with 15 stage performances.
