Chaitra Shivayogimath, based in Bangalore and originally from Muddebihal in Vijayapura district, is an M.Tech graduate in Electronics and Telecommunication from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). She works as a Cyber Security Engineer in Bangalore.

A passionate poet and translator, she published her debut Kannada poetry collection, Petrichor, in 2022. In 2025, she translated selected poems of Pulitzer Prize-winning American poet Mary Oliver into Kannada, published as Akasha Nadi Bayalu. Petrichor received widespread appreciation in Kannada literary circles for its fresh voice and earned several prestigious honours, including the Smt. Sharada Ramalingappa Datti Award from Kannada Sahitya Parishat, the Amma Prashasti (Sedam), the Prarthana Sahitya Prashasti (Manvi), and recognition in the Avva Pustakalaya Annual Awards.

Deeply committed to literary translation, Chaitra is passionate about bringing poetry from other languages into Kannada. Her poems and translations have been published in several literary magazines.
