Selva Kumari is an academic, researcher, and Kannada scholar, currently serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Kannada at Smt. VHD Central Institute of Home Science, Bengaluru. With decades of experience in higher education, she has made significant contributions to Kannada language and literary studies through teaching, research, and academic leadership.

A dedicated researcher and mentor, Selva Kumari has guided doctoral scholars and has published research in academic journals. She has served as Chairperson and member of the Board of Studies (BOS) and Board of Examiners (BOE) at several autonomous institutions and universities, including Maharani Cluster University, and has contributed as a textbook editor, paper setter, and evaluator for Bengaluru University and other academic bodies. Beyond academics, she has actively promoted literary and cultural activities through her roles as convenor of Kannada Sangha, cultural committees, and college publications. Through her scholarship, teaching, and institutional leadership, Selva Kumari continues to make valuable contributions to Kannada education and literary discourse.
