K. Shivalingappa Handihalu is a Kannada children's writer, translator, editor, and educator from Handihalu village in Ballari district. A primary school teacher by profession, he has made significant contributions to children's literature through his poems, stories, novels, translations, and editorial work, inspiring young readers with engaging and imaginative writing.

His notable works include Naanu Mattu Kannadaka, The Young Scientist, Tiffin Box, and Notebook, while his translations for the National Book Trust and other institutions have introduced children to diverse literary works. He has also served as the founding editor of the children's magazine Balapa and has actively contributed to literary and cultural organizations in Karnataka.
