Shinjini Kumar is a writer, financial-services leader and entrepreneur whose work brings together the worlds of business, society, gender and contemporary India. With three decades of experience, she has held senior leadership roles at the Reserve Bank of India, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Citibank, and was the founding CEO of Paytm Payments Bank. She later co-founded SALT, a financial platform focused on helping women build financial independence.

Her literary debut, Busy Women: Building Commerce and Culture in Middle India, published by Penguin Business in 2026, explores the lives, aspirations and entrepreneurial journeys of women across India’s Tier-II cities. Drawing on conversations with hundreds of women, the book examines how economic agency is reshaping family, work, ambition and social structures in contemporary India. With master’s degrees in English Literature and Public Policy, Kumar brings an unusual combination of literary sensibility, institutional experience and social observation to her writing.
