Sushma Shankar is a distinguished Kannada scholar, bilingual author, poet, translator, and educationist from Kannanalloor, Kollam, Kerala. She earned her Ph.D. in Kannada from Dravidian University, Kuppam, and has dedicated her career to fostering literary and cultural connections among the Dravidian languages. As President of the Dravida Bhasha Translators Association (DBTA), Chief Editor of the children's magazine Thodalnudi, and Managing Trustee of Sree Saraswathi Education Trust, she has played a pivotal role in promoting language, literature, and education. For the past 17 years, she has voluntarily taught Kannada to adult learners, enabling more than 4,000 people to acquire proficiency in the language. Dr. Shankar has authored over 20 books spanning poetry, fiction, translations, and short stories, reflecting her versatile literary voice. Her outstanding contributions have been recognized with numerous honors, including the Dubai Karnataka Rajyotsava Award, S.L. Bhyrappa Award, Rashtrakavi Govinda Pai Award, Bhasha Shree Award, Kannada Payaswini Award, O.N.V. Memorial Award, and Bharat Sevak Ratna Award.
