Kusuma Ayarahalli is a Kannada writer, columnist, and media professional whose work reflects a deep engagement with literature, rural life, and contemporary society. Hailing from a farming family in Ayarahalli, Mysuru, she began her media career with All India Radio and has since built a distinguished career across radio, television, and print journalism.
She has worked as a dialogue writer for television serials with acclaimed filmmakers and writers, including T. N. Seetharam and Girish Kasaravalli, and served as a columnist for Vijaya Karnataka for eight years. As a media professional, she has also produced programmes for entertainment and news channels and held leadership roles as a Content Head.
An accomplished author, Kusuma Ayarahalli has written essays, novels, and short stories that have earned critical acclaim. Her contributions to Kannada literature have been recognized with several prestigious honours, including the H. M. Nayaka Award, the Kittur Rani Chennamma Award from the Government of Karnataka, and the Lakshmidevamma Story Award from the Karnataka Lekhakiyara Sangha.
