Manu Baligar is a distinguished Kannada writer, poet, translator, and former civil servant who has made significant contributions to literature, public administration, and cultural leadership. A former President of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat, he also served in several key positions in the Government of Karnataka, including as Commissioner of the Department of Kannada and Culture, playing a pivotal role in promoting the state's literary and cultural heritage.

A prolific author, Dr. Baligar has written extensively across genres including poetry, short stories, essays, biographies, literary criticism, and drama. He has also translated over 200 poems of Rabindranath Tagore into Kannada, while several of his own works have been translated into English and other Indian languages. His writings reflect a deep engagement with literature, culture, and society, earning him widespread acclaim.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to Kannada literature and public service, Dr. Baligar has been conferred the prestigious Nadoja honor by Kannada University, Hampi, an Honorary Doctorate from Karnatak University, Dharwad, and numerous literary awards, including the Ranna Sahitya Award, Betageri Krishna Sharma Award, and Kempegowda Literary Award. Through his lifelong dedication to literature and culture, he remains one of the most respected voices in contemporary Kannada letters.
