Vivek Shanbhag is one of the most acclaimed contemporary Kannada authors, celebrated for his fiction, plays, and literary essays. Renowned for his minimalist style and profound exploration of human relationships, his works have earned widespread critical acclaim in India and around the world.   He is the founding editor of the influential literary journal Desha Kaala. His internationally acclaimed novel Ghachar Ghochar has been translated into numerous languages and received global recognition, including being named among The New York Times Critics' Top Books of 2017, Vulture's 100 Best Books of the 21st Century, and a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for Fiction.   A translator and literary scholar, Shanbhag also co-translated U. R. Ananthamurthy's Hindutva or Hind Swaraj into English. An engineer by training, he continues to make significant contributions to contemporary Indian literature through his writing, translation, and editorial work.
