T. M. Krishna is one of India's most distinguished Carnatic vocalists, acclaimed author, and public intellectual. Renowned for his exceptional artistry and progressive vision, he has played a transformative role in reimagining the relationship between music, culture, and society through performance, scholarship, and public engagement.   His acclaimed book, A Southern Music: The Karnatik Story, offers a groundbreaking exploration of the philosophy, aesthetics, and socio-political dimensions of Carnatic music and received the Tata Literature Live! First Book Award for Non-Fiction. A passionate advocate for inclusivity and cultural dialogue, Krishna has founded and supported several initiatives dedicated to expanding access to music and the arts.   In recognition of his outstanding contributions to culture and social change, he was awarded the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2016.
