Nithyananda B. Shetty is a Professor of Kannada Studies at Tumkur University and a distinguished scholar of Kannada literature and culture. He holds a Ph.D. from Mangalore University for his research on Kannada Samskruti Vangmaya (Cultural Discourse in Kannada).   His academic interests include Kannada Studies, Cultural Studies, Film Studies, Philosophy, and Kannada–Tulu literature. He has published extensively in the fields of cultural history and humanities and has served as the Editor of the UGC-CARE listed journal Loka Jnana. He is the author of Maarganveshane, a book on Kannada literary research and methodology, and has edited the Kannada edition of the four-volume Kalatatvakosha, an encyclopaedia of fundamental concepts in Indian arts.
