Purushottama Bilimale is a distinguished Kannada scholar, folklorist, author, and academic, widely recognized for his significant contributions to Kannada literature, folklore studies, and cultural scholarship. A former Professor of Kannada at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, he has played a pivotal role in advancing the study of Kannada language, literature, and folk traditions at the national level.   A prominent voice in the Bandaya and Dalit literary movements, Dr. Bilimale's writings combine scholarly insight with a deep commitment to social and cultural discourse. His notable works include Dalita Jagattu, Karavali Janapada, Koodukattu, and Bahuroopa, all of which have made lasting contributions to Kannada literary and folkloric studies.   His outstanding contributions have been recognized with several prestigious honours, including the Karnataka Janapada Academy Award and the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award, cementing his place among Karnataka's most respected literary scholars and cultural thinkers.
