Akkineni Kutumba Rao is an Indian novelist and filmmaker known for his work in Telugu parallel cinema, and documentary films. As a writer, he has published over 10 novels with diverse themes, of which 3 are semi-autobiographical. His two novels Sorrajjam and Kolleti Jaadalu are translated into English. His latest work novel Pattanamlo Bathukudamani, published by Elami publications. He won three International awards, two Nandi Awards and one National Award for his films and Best novel award from Telugu University.
