
“Attada Appala Naidu was born on August 23, 1953, in Gumada Village, Vijayanagaram District, Andhra Pradesh, to parents Suri Naidu and Narayanamma. He is married to Aruna. He holds a B.A. degree and worked in the banking sector, eventually retiring as a Grameena Bank Officer.
A prolific writer, Appala Naidu has published numerous short story collections such as Podu.. Poru (1988), Pratyamnayam (1998), Oka Pottivadu – Kondaru Podavu Vallu (2005), Kshathagatraganam (2009), Beela (2010), and Chitikenavelu Kathalu (2022). His novels include award-winning works like Punaravasam (Chathura Novel Prize), Vutkalam (Prajasakthi Novel Prize), Anaganaga Oka Rajadroham, Nookalisthanu (Andhra Jyothi Weekly Prize), and Bahula, which chronicles a hundred years of life in Uttarandhra. Additionally, three volumes of his complete works have been published.
Apart from fiction, he has contributed hundreds of journal articles addressing humanitarian, social, and political issues. His literary contributions have earned him numerous accolades, including the Jyeshta Literary Award (1998), Visala Sahithi Puraskaram (2000), Katha Kokila Award (2006), Rachakonda Rachana Puraskaram (2007), Kondepudi Srinivasa Rao Award (2010), Rangineni Ellamma Award (2011), Kethu Viswanadha Reddy Award (2012), Appa Jyosula Vishnubhotla Award (2015), Krishna Zilla Rachithala Sangham Award (2016), Andhra Pradesh Government Ugadi Puraskaram (2017), Peddibhotla Subbaramayya Spurthi Puraskaram (2018), and the prestigious Kalaratna Award from the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 2019. In 2021 alone, he received the Bollimunta Sivarama Krishna Spurthi Award, Dusi Dharma Rao Spurthi Award, and Pathanjali Smaraka Award. In 2022, he was honored with the Balivada Kantharao Smaraka Puraskar and Chilukuri Devaputra Smaraka Puraskar. He is also a member of the Kendra Sahitya Academy’s Telugu Advisory Board.”
