K.R. Meera is one of the most powerful and acclaimed contemporary voices in Indian literature. Writing primarily in Malayalam, her works—marked by psychological depth, emotional intensity, and sharp feminist insight—have captivated readers across the country and beyond. A former journalist with over a decade of experience at Malayala Manorama, Meera transitioned into full-time writing, bringing with her a journalistic sharpness that underpins her fiction with realism and urgency.
Meera’s literary oeuvre spans novels, novellas, short stories, and essays. Her most celebrated works include Aarachar (Hangwoman). This groundbreaking novel won the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award, as well as Sooryane Aninja Oru Sthree (The Woman Who Wore the Sun), Qabar, and The Gospel of Judas.
