Kamal Ahmed Malekoppa, a distinguished miniature artist from Gadag, Karnataka, holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from Karnataka University, Dharwad. Balancing his dual roles as an art teacher and a practising artist, Kamal’s work is deeply rooted in regional traditions.
His unique compositions blend otherworldly creatures with subtle touches of reality, creating a fantastical yet grounded aesthetic. His work is renowned for its fine craftsmanship, inspired by regional folk forms and marked by meticulous detail.
Mr. Kamal Ahmed has been honoured with numerous awards, including Gold Medals at the annual exhibition at Mini Vidhana Soudha, Gulbarga, Prathibha Ratna Award from K. V. Parishath, Gadag, and the Best Traditional Painting Award Half Tola Gold Medal from Kannada University, Hampi. Based in Gadag, Kamal Ahmed continues to create and teach from his studio, contributing significantly to the preservation and evolution of traditional miniature art forms.
