“B R Lakshmanarao is a poet, short story writer, critic, and filmmaker. He received his primary education in Chintamani, Chikkaballapur. He earned his undergraduate degree from Bangalore University and a postgraduate degree from the University of Mysore. He began his career as a high school teacher in Chintamani and later served as the principal of Vinayaka Tutorials. Currently, he is fully engaged in literary pursuits.
Some of his notable works include Lilly Puttiya Hambala, Shangri-La, Aparadhangala Manniso, Gopi Mattu Gandalina, and the poetry collections ‘Ede mattu Ivalu Nadiyalla, as well as the comprehensive poetry compilation ‘Camera Kannu’.
Lakshmanarao received the 1981 Sahitya Akademi Award for his poetry collection Lilly Puttiya Hambala. In recognition of his contribution to Kannada literature, he has been honored with the Goruru Sahitya Award, Chutuku Ratna Award, Visvesvaraya Sahitya Award, Dr. P.T. Narasimhachar Poetry Award, Aryabhata Award, and the Rajyotsava Award.”
