
M S Ashadevi
Dr. M. S. Ashadevi is an acclaimed Kannada writer, critic, translator, and feminist thinker from Karnataka. With a Ph.D. on The Influence of Western Criticism on Navodaya Criticism, she has built a distinguished career as a scholar and professor, currently teaching at Maharani Women’s Science College, Bengaluru.
A powerful literary voice, Ashadevi has authored influential works such as Streematavanu Uttarialagade?, Naduve Sulivaatma, Naarikeela, and the Kannada translation of D. R. Nagaraj’s The Flaming Feet (Urichammalige). Her columns, essays, and books interrogate gender, culture, and literature with incisive feminist insight, making her one of the most respected contemporary critics in Kannada literature.
She has edited important anthologies, including Vachana Pravesha, Mahila Sampada, and Gouri Lankesh Kande Haage, and her translations and critiques have enriched the literary landscape.
Dr. Ashadevi’s contributions have been honored with numerous awards, including the Karnataka Sahitya Akademi Award, Infosys Literary Award, M. K. Indira Award, and several others.
