Mayilan G Chinnappan

“Born in a village in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu, Mayilan G Chinnappan (b. 1986) is a prolific writer in Tamil with a focus on narrative fiction. He is a neurosurgeon by profession. His journey through the realms of medicine and literature has shaped a unique body of work that intertwines the precision of surgical procedures with the artistry of storytelling.

Mayilan made his remarkable literary debut in 2019 with Prabhakaranin Postmortem, a medical thriller that delves into the intricacies of the human psyche. Since then, he has published three collections of short stories (Nooru Roobilgal, Anaamatheya kathaigal, Sirungaaram) and two novelle (Muppogam, Nissevin Verkkani). In 2023, he was awarded the title, ‘Inspiring Icon for Literature’ by Puthiya Thalaimurai, a leading Tamil news channel. In the same year, he received CODISSIA Young Writers Award (Fiction) for his short story collection Sirungaaram”
