N S Madhavan
N S Madhavan is a Malayalam writer and columnist whose body of work spans across genres. He has published seven collections of short stories, a novel, two plays, a travelogue, and a volume of literary essays. His novel Lanthan Batheriyile Luthiniyakal, translated into English by Rajesh Rajamohan as Litanies of the Dutch Battery, won the Crossword Book Award.
Madhavan’s short stories such as Higuita, Thiruthu, Vanmarangal Veezhumbol (When Big Trees Fall), and Bheemachan—have earned him a wide readership. In addition to fiction, he writes columns on football, politics, and social issues.
A Distinguished Fellow of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi, he has received numerous accolades over the years. In 2024, the Government of Kerala honoured him with the Ezhuthachan Puraskaram, the state’s highest literary award, in recognition of his contributions to Malayalam literature.
