Ponmani Thomas, a celebrated artist from Kerala, has made significant contributions to the art world. She holds a Master of Fine Arts from KSOU, Mysore, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Chamarajendra Academy of Visual Arts (CAVA), Mysore University. Additionally, she completed KGCE in Drawing and Painting from Kerala School of Arts, Thalassery. Ms Ponmani has had a distinguished teaching career, serving as a Lecturer and Head of the Painting Department at Malayala Kalagramam, New Mahe (1994-2008), and currently holds the position of Principal at Kerala School of Arts, Thalassery (2021 onwards).
Ms. Ponmani Thomas’s artistic journey includes notable solo exhibitions such as “Nature’s Pallet” at Kerala Lalithakala Academy Gallery, Kottayam (2024) and “My Village-My People-Our Gods” at Lila Curations, Fort Kochi (2024). Her group shows span prestigious venues like David Hall, Fort Kochi (2022), and CIMA Gallery, Kolkata (2012). She has also actively participated in various art camps, including the Chavara Cultural Centre Artist Camp, Ernakulam and the National Painters Camp, Kerala Lalithakala Academy, Thrissur. Her work has earned her several accolades, including the State Award for Painting by Kerala Lalithakala Academy in 2011 and an Honourable Mention Award in 2010. Ms. Ponmani continues to inspire through her leadership at the Kerala School of Arts and her ongoing contributions to the art community.
