Premanand Gajvee (born Anandrao Shankar Gajbhiye on 15 June 1947 in Pimpalgaon, Chandrapur District, Maharashtra) is a renowned Marathi playwright, poet, short story writer, and novelist whose work has left a significant mark on contemporary Indian literature and theatre. Writing under his pen name, he has authored over 30 books, including acclaimed plays like Ghotbhar Panee, Kirwant, and Gandhi-Ambedkar, many of which have received awards from the Maharashtra State Government and various literary bodies. His works are part of university curricula across Maharashtra and have been translated into multiple Indian and foreign languages, with performances staged in India and abroad. In recognition of his lifelong contribution to literature, he has been honored by prestigious institutions including the Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad and Cultural Unity, Mumbai.
