Shivashankar I. Sutar was born in Bandarwad, Gulbarga, Karnataka, India. He holds a B.F.A. and M.V.A. from M.M.K. College of Visual Art, Gulbarga.  

His participation in various art camps includes the 46th National Level Workshop CAVA in Mysore, Karnataka Lalit Kala Academy State Level Art Camp in Chitradurga, Karnataka Lalit Kala Academy Digital Workshop in Gadag, National Level Painting Camp by KLA and LPU, Punjab, and the National Multimedia Camp by Lalit Kala Academy in Chennai.  

Mr. Sutar has showcased his work in numerous exhibitions such as Youth Guild for Friendship at Gorky Sadan, Kolkata, Paint My Thought in Delhi, and the Bombay Art Society Exhibition. His solo exhibitions include one sponsored by Kannada and Culture Department, Bangalore, at Govt Art Gallery, Dharwad, and another by Karnataka Lalit Kala Academy at Venkatappa Art Gallery, Bangalore.  

He has received several accolades, including the Gulbarga University Rajyotsava Purskar, Prafulla Dahanukar Kalananda Contest Gold Medal for Print Making (2016), and Art Beru Germination Contemporary Art Exhibition Special Jury Award (2023).
