
V B Tharakeshwar
Dr. V. B. Tharakeshwar is a distinguished scholar, translator, and cultural historian specializing in Translation Studies and Kannada literature. Born and educated in Karnataka, he earned a PhD from the University of Hyderabad and has held faculty roles at Kannada University, Hampi, and now serves as Professor in the Department of Translation Studies at The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad.
Over two decades, Dr. Tharakeshwar has authored and edited numerous insightful works on translation practice, genre politics, colonialism, caste, and nationalism. Noteworthy publications include his essay “Translating Tragedy into Kannada” in Decentering Translation Studies (2009) and critical pieces on Kannada travel fiction, caste and translation, and medieval translation poetics
A leading voice in intercultural and postcolonial discourse, he has also contributed captions and editorial introductions for translated Kannada classics and oral literature.
