V Gayathri is not only a writer, translator, journalist, and author, but also someone actively involved in social work Her children’s creative novel Tunga has been included in the 7th-grade Kannada curriculum Her notable works include D D Bharamgowdra: Baduku-Besaya , the Kannada translation of the world-famous Japanese novel Totto-Chan, and the Svaayava ParamparÃya Kathana (Volumes 1, 2, 3, and 4) a collection of 28 narratives documenting and presenting the lives and agricultural practices of natural/organic farmers
Her major publications also include Puttirammana Purana, Teremareya Satyakathe , and Savaayava Sangati
She has received several awards including the Counter Media Award, the Best Agricultural Writer Award from Paryaya Krishi Maadhyama, Dharwad, and the Infosys Foundation Award from the North Karnataka Women Writers’ Association for her book D D Bharamgowdra: Baduku-Besaya
