Prominent Kannada writer Anupama Prasad completed her studies in Ujire, pursued a Diploma in Computer Application (BCA) and later got a Master’s degree in Kannada.
‘Chetana’, ‘Karaveerada Gida’, ‘Doorathira’, ‘Jogati Jolige’, ‘Pakkihallada Hadigunta’, ‘Chodya’ are her published story collections. She has written ‘Ardha Kathanaka’ – which is about Kasaragod’s famous storyteller M. Vyasa’s narratives, curated by his son Tejaswi. She has composed plays for radio drama called ‘Kenneeru’ and ‘Manassu Mayeya Hinde’.
She has received many awards including Mumbelaku Literary Award in 2009 (Rangakarmi Sadananda Suvarna), the Bendre Pustaka Bahumana in 2011, and the Attimabbe Award for the same work for the manuscript of her story collection ‘Karaveerada Gida’, Karnataka Writers’ Association Bengaluru honoured her with Triveni Katha Award for the short story collection Durothira, along with Kannada Sahitya Parishad’s “Vasudeva Bhupalam” charity story award for the same work, ‘Besagara Halli Ramanna Katha Puraskara’ for the work ‘Dhurathira’, Masti Katha Puraskara, Karnataka Sahitya Academy for ‘Jogati Jolige’, Sara Abubakar Endowment Story Award of Coastal Writers Association, Karnataka Sahitya Academy Chaturanga Endowment Prize for the novel ‘Pakki Hallada Hadigunta’, Shantarama Sahitya Award of Kundapur Bhandarkars College and recently she got 2023 Sangam Sahitya Award for the work ‘Chodya’.
Anupama’s writings give voice to the outcry of oppressed minds and the inner rebellion of the oppressed.
