B. Jeyamohan is an acclaimed Tamil and Malayalam writer, based in Nagarcoil, trudging between two languages as a fiction writer and script writer for the cinema. Jeyamohan is well-versed in both in Malayalam and Tamil, both… although his major works are in Tamil.
A true Gandhian and Environmentalist by nature, Jeyamohan’s famous novels are Rubber, Kaadu, Vishnupuram, Eazhaam Ulagam, Iravu and Ulogam. He has authored the world’s longest novel Venmurasu, which is a reinterpretation of The Mahabharatha. He has also interpreted the Tamil epic ‘Silappadhikaram’ and wrote the most acclaimed modern epic Kotravai in 2005. Jeyamohan is known not only as novelist, but also as a short-story writer and critic, etching his name permanently in the history of Indian Languages Literature.
From Akilan Memorial Prize, Kannandasan Award, Kovai Kannandasan Kazhgam to Lifetime Achievement Award at the Codissia Book Festival, Jeyamohan is bestowed with many accolades. National Library, Singapore conferred him ‘Tamil Author of Year’ in 2013. He has worked as Writers in Residence at Nayang Technological University, Singapore. Jeyamohan, for various reasons, refused to accept the Padmashree Award from Government of India, in 2016.
