Jayanth Kaykini, short-story writer and poet, is celebrated for his poignant portrayal of modern life’s intricacies, standing as one of Kannada’s foremost storytellers. Kaykini hails from a lineage of literary luminaries, possessing a rich repository of his literary brilliance with poems/songs like Kotitheertha, Shravana Madhyahna; Bannada Kaalu, Charminaar. Theredashte Baagilu, Dagadoo Parabana Ashwamedha, Toofan Mail, are some of Kaykini’s short story collections. Kaykini is the proud recipient of DSC Prize for South Asian Literature 2018 for his translated work ‘No Presents Please’; Katha Award from Delhi for Amruthaballi Kashaya; Kusumagraj National Award for Poetry; Honorary Doctorate from Tumkur University for his contribution to Kannada Literature and Cinema; Dinakar Desai Award for Poetry.
