Folklorist, storyteller, and novelist Krishnamurthy Hanur has worked as a visiting professor at the Kuvempu Kannada University of Mysore.
His novel ‘Ajnathanobban Atma Charitre’ has been appreciated by the readers and has been translated into English. Kerige Banda Hori, Kattalalli Kanda Mukha and Kaleda Mangalavara Mussanje are short story collections. ‘Baro Geezgane’ and ‘Nikshepa’ are his novels. He has edited several works related to folklore. The Encyclopaedia of Folk Culture of Karnataka edited by him introduces Kannada folklore in English. It is published by the Institute of Asian Studies, Chennai. His PhD Mahaprabandha Myasa Bedaru, a book on tribal studies, has been translated into English and published by the Dravida University, Kuppam. He is like the nexus of inscriptions, halagannada and folklore studies. His latest work is Kaludariya Kathegalu. He has published more than 40 books.
