Feminist thinker, writer, Bharatanatyam scholar LG Meera hails from Kodagu. She has a master’s degree in literature and is working as a professor. Her passion is teaching Bharatanatyam to poor students as a service and respect for the art.
Her major published works include ‘Tamil Kavya Mimamse’, ‘Manushiya Matu’, ‘Bahumukha’, ‘Stree Samvedaneyalli Kannada Kathana ‘ (mahaprabandha), ‘Kannada Mahila Sahitya Charitre’ (edited), short story ‘Akashamalligeya Ghama’, children’s play ‘Rangashale’, ‘Kempu Balunu Other Children’s Songs’ and ‘Namma baduku namma baraha’ which is an autobiography published by the Karnataka Women Writers’ Association.
She has received many awards including the Karnataka Sahitya Academy Book Award, Gudibande Purnima Dattanidhi Award from Karnataka Writers’ Association Patil Puttappa Katha Award (2007), Karnataka Child Development Academy Award (2010), Buddha Award (2011), Sankraman Kavya Award (2007), Kalesam Gunasagari Nagaraju Endowment Award for Theater Work (2010) and many other awards for her services and contribution to the field of literature and culture.
