A distinguished Kannada critic, Dr Asha Devi was born on February 26, 1966 and hails from Neralige in Davangere district. A post-graduate in MA from Bengaluru University, Dr Asha Devi pursued her PhD thesis on “Influence of Renaissance Criticism on Western Criticism” under the guidance of D.R. Nagaraj. Notable among her works are “Urichammalike” (a translation of D.R. Nagaraja’s “The Flaming Feet”), “Bharatha Pravesha,” and “Bharatada Bangara P. T. Usha.” She is at present, the Kannada Professor at Maharani Science College in Bangalore.
